Anmahian Winton designed a new Horticulture Support Facility at the Arnold Arboretum in conjunction with the institution’s Master Plan. The Facility includes a mixed-use program for a comprehensive maintenance facility that accommodates expansion of the Arboretum’s grounds maintenance operations.
The L-shaped complex, located to the south of the Arboretum’s existing Dana Greenhouse, is comprised of three major elements: a support staff office building; a garage; and an equipment storage building. Its configuration provides a service yard and parking area concealed from nearby gardens. The low-profile building volumes are embedded in the sloped topography to reduce their impact on the landscape and neighborhood.
